The story of the 2000 United States Amateur - the 100th playing of America's oldest golf championship.
Staged at the iconic Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey ... the 2000 Amateur featured one of the strongest fields ever. NCAA champion Luke Donald (future world number one) was the pre-tournament favorite. Challengers included eventual PGA TOUR stars -- Lucas Glover, Ben Curtis, Bryce Molder, Nick Watney, and Hunter Mahan.
However, after the starting field of 312 was narrowed down to just two ... it was James Driscoll of Brookline, Massachusetts dueling Jeff Quinney of Eugene, Oregon in the 36-hole final. The championship match tied an all-time record ... as it took 39 holes to crown a champion.
