Renegade Orchestra Taster Film (17.06.2016)
A short taste of the Renegade Orchestra - a new work of music theatre for 11 exceptional soloists from the Post Soviet States
The Renegade Orchestra, produced by Dash Arts, is scheduled to premiere at Brighton Festival in May 2017 after which a UK and European tour is planned alongside dates in Russia and Post Soviet region.
Dash Arts will bring together composer / conductor Alexander Manotskov and 11 exceptional soloists from across the Post Soviet States to create and perform a new piece of music theatre that embraces the individual stories of the power, collapse and aftermath of the Soviet Union. Designed for the concert hall but incorporating elements of theatrical and visual design, The Renegade Orchestra tells the story of an ambitious attempt to build a utopian ensemble from 11 opinionated musicians scattered across the Post Soviet States and its diaspora. It will move from classical sinfonia concertante to post-modern creative dissonance, telling a monumental social and political story through the journeys of its individual musicians; experiences of passion, harmony, tension, exile and the loneliness of diaspora.
The musicians will be working with a creative team of Russian composer Alexander Manotskov (Bolshoi, Golden Mask), Ukrainian playwright Natalya Vorozhbyt (RSC, Royal Court, National Theatre of Scotland), Kazakh director Galina Pyanova, Azerbaijani visual artist and filmmaker Ali Hasanov and Dash Arts Artistic Director Josephine Burton
