Larry Achiampong’s Jam in the Dark is a sound-sculpture experiment that is ever-changing and improvised in pitch-black space. The artwork is an act of rebellion against traditional indicators of status and hierarchy, using darkness as a unifying presence between audience and musicians.
Filmed using a special thermal imaging technology, this video comprises documentary highlights of Larry Achiampong's three-hour sound-sculpture performed live at the Royal College of Art on 19 March 2016. Musicians, playing for the first time together, were: Bobbie-Jane Gardner, Riketté Genesis, Andrea Goldsworthy, Jonathan Holland, Josh King-Farlow, François Larini, and Shingai Shoniwa.
