Part 1 of Highlife Crew end of summer E-Wash lo-fi chop shop jams. Episode: Steel Hard Tail Bliss. I'm lovin' it on a Transition TransAM, and Scotty's got his custom Curtlo. Ian's got a sweet svelte Nomad but it has a mustache so its a-ight, and Froh left his Chromag at home, but he did bring bring tasty beer yet again. Plus it is Froh's quasi-home trail, so zero catching him.
One of the most scenic and "continuous" downhill trails in WA: Pot Peak. We did a modest 20 miles while the 2 different pairs of super polite moto-bra's on wicked dirt bikes were doing closer to 75 miles. Seriously, one pair of guys shut their engines off and coasted to us from over 100' away while greeting us. Motos have armored many of the turns with concrete pavers, so even when it is blown-out, the trail is epic. Props to them.
We did adopt an outta-town solo biker, who didn't know the way. I think his 22 lb carbon x/c bike probably survived the baby heads kicking up and bashing his down tube, but we aren't sure if he made it out. He waited for us too many times to count; smoking us on the ridiculous number of "Another damn climb?!" climbs that Pot Peak is known for.
When he thought he knew the route he finally abandoned us and went on ahead. We never caught up to him or saw him again. That's his wife and dog at trailhead at the end of the video still waiting for him. We hope he didn't go off a cliff.
