Did you know that In the US we use 500 million straws a day, enough plastic polluting straw waste to wrap around the earth 2.5 times? Get inspired by this youth-made video and take action to save marine wildlife one step at a time! #RefusePlasticStraws
"The Flaws of Straws #RefusePlasticStraws," a vlog video, is #4 in Cafeteria Culture's YOUTH MEDIA for TRASH FREE WATERS series, created by 8th grade students in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.
There are 5.25 TRILLION pieces of plastic debris in the ocean and 80% of that debris originates on land. Plastic pollution is not just ugly, it hurts tourism, costs money to clean up (when possible to do so), harms or kills marine wildlife, and is now a part of our food chain! Humans are solely responsible for all this plastic marine litter and humans can take a first step towards reducing the destructive amounts of plastic entering our waterways by simply saying NO to plastic straws!
