Local students investigated the Gowanus Canal this year, doing research to understand why the canal is so polluted, and what we can all do to improve water quality. Students from MS 51, MS 88, MS 839, PS 32 and Brooklyn Urban Garden School brought their experiments and models to EXPO Gowanus. They talked to members of the community about our shared role in stewardship for the Gowanus Canal.
We have been working with Brooklyn teachers this year to incorporate Gowanus field studies and design projects using our STEM Gowanus curriculum. We would like to expand our partnerships with schools in the Gowanus Watershed. Contact Christine Petro, GCC Education Director if your school is interested in working with us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to DecadesOut for producing the EXPO Gowanus video!
