The Whispering Forest was a unique sonic experience involving interaction, storytelling and change. Originally designed and installed within the OXO Tower complex, London, Filipe Gomes re-imagined the work in in Newington as part of 'The Best of Us' community project.
The work was created with members of the local community; Filipe held sound design and storytelling workshops, with the aim of unlocking stories and creativity amongst participants.
The installation presented visitors with a playful social interaction - on entering The Whispering Forest, participants were able to contribute by whispering, singing, or making sounds into a 'listening post'. The 'listening post' gathered visitors words, sounds and melodies and dispersed them deep into the forest, becoming part of The Whispering Forest.
