On Friday 26th November 2010, a last minute opportunity came up to make a short film about suicide. Well, actually, a short piece on hope.
We wanted a simple concept; converging journeys and the opportunity to turn around, reach out and to talk.
Suicide affects young men more than any age group, in fact, men are three times more likely to take their own life than women. Among men under the age of 35, suicide is the second most common cause of death.
Samaritans volunteers listen in confidence to anyone in any type of emotional distress, without judging or telling people what to do. http://www.samaritans.org/talk_to_someone.aspx
the TWLOHA vision describes how you were created to love and be loved. You were meant to live life in relationship with other people, to know and be known. You need to know that your story is important and that you're part of a bigger story. You need to know that your life matters. Find out more about TWLOHA here: http://www.twloha.com/vision/
On every journey there is always an opportunity to turn around.
Filmed on a Canon 5DMkii using a 50mm lens.
We used no supports, despite having a boot full of awesome Redrock stuff. Given the location, the time and the subject we needed to be able to move fast.
