Hello, my name is Adam Ting and I have just completed my final year at Bournemouth University, NCCA.
Part 1: Rigging Masterclass ~ 0:00 - 0:47
Rigging Masterclass delivered by Frontier Development. Given a white box mech suit model and a rigged pilot we were tasked with animating the suit and allowing the pilot rig to get in and out of the mech suit easily, get the arms to fold and allow the suit to enter a driving mode. The tentacles are done with variable FK(based on Jeff Brodsky's method) and IK planting. The tyres are created by moving the UV positions of each tyre track around the wheel and looping the set driven keys.
Part 2: Cat Rig ~ 0:48 - 1:07
A character from my major project. A quadruped rig with a focus on the deformation of the shoulders and spine to accommodate for the flexible nature of cats, also enabling extra control over the legs and paws.
Part 3: Girl Rig ~ 1:08 - 1:45
A character from my major project. The girl's face rig is blendshape and joint driven. The finger controls are implemented using FK and IK controls. There are 2 IK controls, a 3 joint chain IK and a 4 joint chain IK. The 3 joint chain IK allows the tip of each finger to be moved similar to an FK, but the rest of the finger moves like an IK control.
Part 4: Auto Rigging Toolkit ~ 1:46 - 2:35
Using Python, I created a rigging toolkit that creates fast and efficient biped or quadruped rigs, that can be adjusted by the user. The toolkit allows additional components to be added, each with user adjustable parameters. The rig hierarchy is automatically set up and appended to by the added components.
