For this video, PLANE—SITE followed WOHA Architects across Europe, documenting book launches from London (UK) to Venice (Italy) for their new publication Garden City Mega City, Rethinking Cities for the Age of Global Warming.
The Founders of WOHA discuss a new method of city planning that blends the earlier architectural movements of the garden city and hyper-dense mega city to bring a more natural quality of life to large populations. Their method is developed in response to the growing urban crisis in the era of global warming in a way that prioritizes sustainability and socialibility. Produced in collaboration with writer and photographer Patrick Bingham-Hall, and firstly featured in the collateral program of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016 put on by the Global Art Affairs Foundation, the publication represents a practical method for assessing the quality of 'high-rise high-amenity' living paired with research into the present realities in the mega cities of Asia.
