The Museum of Health Care Presents:
“Torture or Treatment: Electroconvulsive Therapy” Dr. Margaret Angus Research Fellowship Evening Presentation
Among the many non-pharmacological techniques that have been used in psychiatry throughout history, electroconvulsive therapy has raised the most controversy and debate. 2010 Dr. Margaret Angus Research Fellow Sarah Xiao's presentation will discuss the historical perspective of shock therapy, examine the uses and efficacy of ECT (particularly in the last 60 years), and consider how the medical profession envisions its use in the future.
Sarah Xiao delivered this lecture October 21, 2010 at the Glaxo Wellcome Clinical Education Centre in Kingston, Ontario.
