We have some interesting sites in the Thames Valley and Sugar is one of them, little used and with few restrictions. It is located just round the corner from Liddington and takes a south westerly - very easy access and parking near the main road. It is not an easy site to fly, a low ridge in a depression behind a big one, and not particularly steep. The day in question was light with more thermic than dynamic lift so you had to pick your moment to launch. Given the height of the ridge here you don't have much time to catch something and stay up before ending up bottom landing! To get away, you need a bit of luck and skill as well as a lot of persistence. In the end as it was so light, Pawel and I decided to head round the corner and eventually down to the Milk Massif - and he then flew to Oxford!
