These were the last 2 days of our cruise to Alaska. We spent them cruising the seas. Day 6 was spent gawking at the pure beauty of the glaciers, particularly the Marjorie Glacier, and hoping for some glacial calving.
Contrary to what I say in video, calving is a natural occurrence caused by the glacier's movement into warmer water. The ice breaks off upon contact, forming icebergs. So, to watch a glacier calve means that you are actually witnessing its movement, which is really awesome!. We were lucky to see this with one of the glaciers we saw. It nicknamed the Night Glacier because its darker color (from the rock sediment).
By the end of these two days, we were ready for Alaska by land. Next stops - Denali, Mt. McKinley, and Anchorage.
