In B&B “Mountain Gorillas”- Biologist Niall McCann visits Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, to join US-Ugandan team of Veterinarians- “the Gorilla Doctors” who are performing the world’s only medical interventions on endangered wild mountain gorillas. The program addresses the cultural stereotype, promoted in Movies and Books about Gorillas as blood-thirsty monsters, that existed for decades— And how that stereo-type made possible the killing of whole families of gorillas, just to acquire a single baby or juvenile specimen for zoos. Since only some 800 mountain gorillas remain, Niall learns of the value of keeping alive each and every member of that small group: beginning with the Silver Back who maintains harems of females and ensures their safety and future generations. Niall joins the doctors, as they go on a mission to treat an injured (male) Silverback, thousands of feet up in the mist-shrouded mountains of Uganda.
