I have a large spider camped outside my flat and for the last 4 years he is patiently waiting in his hole every night for a meal to pass by.
While he sleeps through the hot summer days I would like to have my front door open to allow a breeze to grace the inner workings of my abode. But to do this means we get the occasional blow fly deciding to buzz endlessly around the flat unable to find his original entrance point.
So to battle this I would attempt to catch them with a few rules in place;
1. I alone can catch them with no aid whatsoever, myweapons only being my eyes and hands.
2. Not to close any doors or hinder the victims escape.
This way I felt it was fair in a kill or be killed world that our insect friends live in??
Let me add that ALOT of flies got away and some even when they were at deaths door managed to free themselves and fly to live another day and so I felt that the ones that didn't survive were meant to be my previously mentioned friends lunch.
I know the irony of the tongs... laugh away.
This was filmed on my Sony HDR-SR7 at slow motion capture taking 3 seconds and spreading it over 12secs.
