Collaroy was a hotbed of performance surfing in the 1960s. Collaroy is also made up of alot of concrete, both in and out of the water. It was the stomping ground for future world champions and created some pivotal surfing figures from the era.
Its dirty, its grey, its real crowded and the clubbies still boss their way around the sand like its out of bounds- just how it used to be.
We like pulling up in the car checkin the surf.
Skating around the point.
Burning the soles of out feet on the concrete promenade. Snapping our back on the shorebreak.
Chatting to the old boys who have surfed the place for 50 years and watching the groms improve every day...
its now our stomping ground, its home
