This film was shot as a Bachelor Thesis at the Media University/Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart, Germany.
It was shot on a RED One with the new Zeiss Compact Primes CP.2. Postproduction was executed by CinePostproduction Geyer Berlin. The film was recently presented at the Zeiss Cine Lens Day 2010.
Main subject of the Bachelor Thesis: Quality criteria for cine lenses in development and in the field. The Compact Primes were used as example. On the one hand there is lots of measurement data, collected in the Zeiss laboratories. And on the other hand realistic test footage of three-dimensional space, which is a very different situation compared to measuring techniques and even test charts. Confronting the two components gives a considerably evaluation of the lenses. Estimating lenses is a very difficile task and measurement data shouldn't be the only benchmark to rely on. Sophisticated shooting situations complete the overall picture, but have to be handled and judged with accuracy.
