Created in 2005 -
My aim was to create a dream scape of sorts.. using different experimental types of puppet animation to suit each character and part of the story that they support.
Characters and Symbolism
Older man with airplane goggles and remote:
Symbolizes patiences and ritual.
He is rewarded with a worm/caterpillar. May or may not be a consequence of pushing the remote. Also not what he expected from faithfully repeating the motions he swore to.
Young boy with a nest and 3 eggs for a head looking at injured dove on sacrificial table:
Symbolizes curiosity, naivety, and fruitless determination.
This character reminds me a bit of the Eight of Swords Tarot Card
He wants to tend to the hurt dove but because his pajamas are too long he is not aware of his hands.
In turn, the boy wants the dove to tend to his creativity. To bring ambitions to life.
Instead, the worm/caterpillar devours the bird, it turns into a cocoon that gives birth to an tiny man.
The boy sacrifices the eggs/creativity to nourish the young man.
Woman dusting manically:
Symbolizes obsession and order.
Without patience and creativity, she would spiral out of control, never to be satisfied with what is in front of her.
without her, nothing gets done.
Through her a person is born.
The person born has all of these traits, and by the end cuts his cord and leaves the mess behind.
