Nostos is the creation of Otium.
Nostos is the etymological root of the word Nostalgia.
I have been working on the recording of the audio portion of 'Nostos' for 3 years and the filming and editing of the video for over a year. I wrote and recorded everything you hear myself in a home studio with Logic. The very talented engineer Geoff Strasser made a final mix of the audio for me.
I recorded the video with an Iphone 6s+ and edited the project in Final Cut Pro, most of the vhs footage was either taken by me on my own vhs camcorder, or salvaged from old home movies. The remainder of the vhs footage comes from tapes i had as a kid, or footage from nasa.
It was debuted at Signal Gallery in Brooklyn on Independence Day Weekend 2016, it was accompanied by a sculptural installation also created by Otium.
This is the first album/video of a trilogy.
