This is my own quick edit of my Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia, footage done for the One Day on Earth documentary.
Sundays, like October 10, 2010, is observed island-wide as the Sabbath. Heavily missioned in past centuries, the local population has assimilated to an island of Christian faiths that have little connection to past cultures. Nobody works on this day, and most attend church in the morning; many also attend evening services. I was given permission to film one Sunday morning service where the church was spit into adult and childrens' services. I also spent part of the afternoon watching what children did for play. Without Playstations and Gameboys, these children turned to the simple joys of playing in a creek. When evening came, we were graced with a beautiful sunset over the island's namesake, the "Sleeping Lady" mountains.
