What can be very difficult to get a handle on for some Christians is believing that God can use ANY and EVERY trial we encounter not only for our ETERNAL good, but for His glory as well.
2 Corinthians reveals an "almost unbelievable" promise to Christians who are suffering -- though it is an ASSURED promise no doubt:
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment (say 80-90 earth years), is working for US a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the the thing which are NOT seen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:16-18)
What it sometimes takes YEARS to realize is that God is birthing CHARACTER in His people, and scripture makes it abundantly clear that CHARACTER invariably gets formed in us through trials, testings, hardships. And what is the VALUE of Christ-like character? It is the most priceless quality to God of anything we can posesse, and we need to EMBRACE the crosse/s God gives each of us to bear rather than despise them, because these "crosse/s we bear" are working for us an eternal weight of glory!
