Retired cop and instructor Mark Udy shares his experiences as a law enforcement officer and the most rewarding part of his career.

Education required for police officers include attending the Police Academy for an intensive 12-14 week program. Continued education is an important part of being in law enforcement, allowing you to have new career opportunities, such as working in SWAT or K9. Many individuals in the field earn criminal justice or accounting college degrees, which lend themselves well to the investigative process. Skills in communications and psychology are equally important.

One of the best part of being a police officer is that every day is different. You're out in the community making a difference and you never know what to expect.
