Blood, Forgotten is a multimedia memorial for the victims of World War 2 in Poland. It is a standalone work, but can also be performed by a live amplified violinist along with the tape and video elements. It will also be included as "audio only" on my forthcoming Naxos CD, for which it will be the title track. The original violinist on this recording is Marcin Arendt (currently professor of violin at the University of Memphis.) His solo part, along with numerous musical fragments, were all originally recorded into Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition. The entire sound world of the piece was then created through various manipulations of the source material in Cool Edit. Aside from some brief convolution work with a piano, all of the sound is sourced from Marcin's own violin, a fascinating and somewhat mysterious instrument which was once owned by a concentration camp survivor. It is hoped that this work will inspire greater interest, reverence, and respect for those victims of Nazi and Soviet aggression, while building awareness for Poland's tragic and yet pivotal part in the second world war.
