These clips were shot by Dave Bloom in the early 1920s. Dave was a New York City dentist, who also had a farm in what is now suburban Bergen County, where several of his siblings also lived in country bungalows during the summers. This film is of a family ice skating outing in 1921.
The video was shot (mostly by Dave) using the Movette film, a 17.5 mm format that has long been discontinued. The excellent work of recovering this footage and archiving it to video was done by Russ Suniewick of ColorLab (in Baltimore, MD). The editing was done by me (Michael Rothschild) and the narration was done by my mother (and Dave's daughter), Naomi Bloom Rothschild.
