As the great rock wall enters it's 3rd phase, we can see the end is finally in sight--weather permitting! This movie is a 315-degree sweep of the area. The workers have just left and the low, late-afternoon rays of sunlight are gleaming brightly and at the same time, they cast long shadows along the shore of this very beautiful lake.
Imagine what it was like in 1897 . . . or way back in the last late-glacial age when the waters of melting ice sluiced over Skillibush, grinding and depositing spent glacial till from the higher elevations. . . .
Just imagine it!
But, here we are in 2008AD, picking our way through it all: the sand, the hardpan, the small rocks, the larger stones and even a few boulders that groan in protest as we move them with heavy equipment--clearing the way, right down to the mother-ledge for our base.
