excerpt from June 2016 workshop performance of scenes from UNTIL THE WAR IS OVER, by Beth Wiemann and Jennifer Moxley. Based on the novel BID ME TO LIVE by H.D. - Lindsay Conrad sings the role of Hilda.
This aria is from the end of the scene between Hilda and her husband's mistress, Bella. Bella has left the room and Hilda, stricken by the possibility that her husband Aldington might never come back from the front, drifts into a reverie of a happier time.
She sings about the two of them in Paris, before the war, on the Ile de France. Young and in love, they are playfully being artists and poets together.
