Barack Obama said during his 2010 State of the Union address, just six days after the Supreme Court handed down the Citizens United decision, that the ruling would let foreign corporations spend "without limit" in American elections. Justice Samuel Alito, one of the Citizens United majority, was sitting directly in front of Obama in the audience, and shook his head and mouthed "not true."
In fact, Obama was correct: The Intercept has uncovered that a California corporation owned by Chinese nationals was, thanks to Citizens United, able to donate $1.3 million to Right to Rise USA, the main Super PAC supporting Jeb Bush. Moreover, Jeb's brother Neil is a member of the California corporation's board.
