My practice is rooted in drawing, an activity that connects directly to the workings of the mind. Through its fluidity it creates a space for connections to be continually re-made. To express this continuum actual movement seemed necessary. Recent drawings made on crumpled surfaces twisted when handled. As I recorded this in a series of films associations started to reveal themselves; To breathing as the piece bulged and contracted, echoing the inhaling and exhaling of air in the lungs. To the forces acting under the surface of the earth, the thin crust moving, sometimes violently, across the molten lubricant beneath.
