Video doumentation of the first FirewallBall German Masters that took place at Merz Akademie Stuttgart during Wahlwoche from December 3 to 10, 2010.
The first players of Firewall Ball said they started to play simply because the wall was there. Others started to play for political reasons and some said it was an update of Volleyball that they had been long awaiting. Indeed, Firewall Ball resembles this game of the last century. And yet it is strikingly different: instead of a common net there is standing a (really) big Firewall in the middle of the playing field—and instead of a common volleyball Firewall Ball is played with a big world ball. At Merz Akademie we updated the rules and played the German Masters.
Players were Saskia Aldinger, Vlatko Babic, Esra Bayrak, Julian Bingmann, Brandi Bryant, Hannes Buchwald, Daria Daut, Marina Gröpel, Jens Kefer, Steve Krapitz, Daniel Kurfess, Candoğan Öğüt, Jan Wenger.
With a special guest appearance by Prof. Mario Doulis, Isabel Aller, Robert Kaiser and Irmela Nothdurft.
The Firewal Ball German Masters logo was created by Jan Wenger and the Firewall Ball Song by Steve Krappitz.
The documentation was directed, shot and cut by Marc Bretzler.
