"Yubartas" produced by Natalia Merchan, takes you on an exciting journey to Choco', on the Colombian Pacific. Every year, a population of humpback whales travels to these shores to mate and give birth in the region's shallow and calm waters. but sveral threats have appeared on the horizon that could endanger this population of ocean giants. Now, Choco's coastal communities are standing up to protect the whales, as well as their own livelihoods.
"Yubarta" is scheduled for world premiere at the 2016 Wildlife Conservation Film Festival (WCFF) in New York, NY this October 14-23. Over 90 award winning documentary films, 65 of which are world premieres, will be screened, representing over 40 nations. This ten day event is like no other on the globe, WCFF will host film screenings, panel discussions, receptions, field trips, Q&A sessions, biodiversity conference, awards party and more.
