This video was created by the filmmaker Caroline Mariko Stucky, it captures a performance created by poet Edwin Torres for the "Writing On It All" festival on Governor's Island in June 2016. The performance is a collaboration between the poet and the dancers/artists Collective Settlement; Felicia Ballos, Jean Brennan, Elizabeth Castagna and the musician/composer Ben Stapp. "Writing On It All" is a participatory writing project open to all interested members of the public. In sessions led by artists and writers, participants are invited to write on the interior surfaces of an out-of-use house. In this session, "We Are Walls Talking," the artists interpret the walls of the house as breathing partners between language and movement, allowing the audience to shift into their own writing.
