High-performance enclosure systems are fundamental to efficient, durable, healthy, and sustainable homes ─ especially in cold climates. This session dives into the critical functions and attributes of the four key control layers: thermal, water, air, and vapor. Then using these principles, Patrick discusses best practices for high-performance enclosure strategies and applications for slab, foundation, wall, and roof assemblies. Code compliance issues for these beyond-code approaches are also discussed. Presenter: Patrick Huelman, University of Minnesota.
This is the fourth of five presentations in the seminar "Understanding the Minnesota Residential Energy Code," co-presented by Contractor University and the Minnesota Energy Code Compliance Collaborative, with support from the Minnesota Building Performance Association.
