‘Tunnels’ is a 5-minute student Drama production. It follows the struggle of one main character a boy who is a keen photographer, of whom we never know the name. We follow him on a hypothetical journey from morning till night through his hometown where he gives a social commentary on his life. This reflects his upbringing and his gradual acceptance of losing his sight.
The piece is told through powerful words, poetry and metaphor to reflect how dependant he now is on sound and speech to communicate. There are many themes that run throughout the piece such as light, colour, photography, and night and day that allow the viewer to imagine the boys exact predicament in the way they choose. The piece is experimental in style and more reliant on people’s interpretation of the story rather than a clear structured narrative.
The whole piece was shot using one sony Z7-HDV, I hope you enjoy it.
