"Orange is the New Black: Through the Lens of Feminist Criminology"
Jenji Kohan's Emmy-winning show Orange is the New Black is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of her year spent in a minimum security women's correction facility. How does this show differ from reality? Aside from the obvious creative and dramatic entitlement of the show's writers, the show does a fantastic job of illustrating the issues surrounding women as offenders, inmates, and correctional officers.
