The late radical Black feminist anti-rape activist and social psychologist Dr. Aaronette M. White (May 22, 1961 - August 13, 2012) deconstructs over twenty racist, sexist, classist and homophobic rape myths in segment one of the five-segment, two-hour Ford Foundation-fundedd video, Breaking Silences: The Supplemental Video to NO!. The focus of the rape myths are on cisgender Black women.
Produced and directed by Aishah Shahidah Simmons, this segment with Dr. White was filmed in 2000. The entire two-hour Breaking Silences video, which accompanies NO! The Rape Documentary, also addresses, the role of religion in violence against women, women, incarceration and the impact of abuse, two survivor testimonies, and men speaking out against raping and battering violence against women. It was released on DVD in 2007.
