Architect Rex Hohlbein started the Facebook group “Homeless in Seattle” to share stories of people living on the street in his neighborhood. His big idea? Start talking to people by simply saying one word: “hello.” Rex photographs the people he meets to highlight their individual stories online. It's a grassroots movement of kindness, with people chiming in to voice support and help fill both emotional and physical needs. The online group quickly grew into an organization, Facing Homelessness, which is now dedicated to creating positive change in the community. Its mission to spread compassion is still growing and you are invited share kind words or resources by connecting with those in your area.
Just say hello.
