A showreel from Ashley Belgrave. I am a twenty four year old London born director, whose influences range from Mike Leigh, to Chan Park Wook, Elia Kazan and Spike Lee. I strongly believe in giving the actor freedom to work by letting them do improvisations to make the film feel as naturalistic and spontaneous as possible. After getting a degree at Brunel University in Media and Communication I filmed a number of shorts, documentaries, live comedy shows, concerts, and music videos. One of the shorts I had shot, edited and directed was a surreal horror called Incarcerated Minds. The short was sent to the Altered Images Student Post Production Awards 2010 where it had made it to the secondary prize tier for best horror short. I shot and co-directed the short film Blood, Sweat and Tears, a gritty film drama which has been aired on the satelite channel of Ben TV and sent to numerous film festivals.
