A BNSF GP38 snakes along the crossover, then through the long shadows cast by the nearby grain elevators and finally dances over the diamonds of the UP Troy Grove sub. Listen for some nice horn and watch for a wave from the cab.
I believe that this is the "local" based at Mendota.
I needed a change of pace from the BNSF stack trains on the Aurora sub. So I drove south to the Mendota sub where I assumed a coal load would eventually run by. So this was a nice surprise.
