The name for Iron Construction was derived by combining the first letter of the founders’ surnames, Claudia Folzman and Dave Edgar. Together they make the periodic symbol for Iron (Fe), one of the most important elements on Earth. Iron has personal significance for Claudia and Dave for its role in engineering and biology, their respective fields of study.
Iron Construction was founded in 2001. The vision was to create a non-traditional commercial general contracting company where executive management was actively involved with projects, and more importantly, clients.
Iron has excelled at projects that challenge most commercial contractors, specifically working in spaces that are occupied, projects that require value engineering to be successful regarding quality, constructability, and cost and projects with aggressive schedules.
Iron is focused on providing detailed, accurate, and prompt proposals within budget. We successfully manage these continued efforts in working with the owner and/or architect for upfront feasible conceptual design budgeting, development through each design phase/construction documentation with a heavy focus on schedule and the client’s overall budget. We meet these lasting standards with competitive pricing from an established subcontractor bidding list, value engineering ideas to fit within budget, and the use of leading software. On screen takeoff streamlines the process by accurately completing measurements and calculations with a detailed material / labor database, allowing Iron to generate faster and more accurate takeoffs. Iron bids an average of 275 projects per year with a high success rate, increasing every year.
