Video made for the "Migrants, the challenge of the encounter" exhibit, for the "Meeting per l'amicizia fra i popoli" 2016 edition.
This is the first of four videos shown in the exhibition, and its purpose is to try to make us empathize with the journey of migrants.
The exhibition invites the visitor to follow the paths taken by migrants, identifying themselves in their human condition before offering solutions to a very complicated problem, on which you are comparing and contrasting the chancelleries of Europe.
Worldwide, 250 million people have left their country to seek a better fate.
Italy, also because of its geographical location at the center of the Mediterranean Sea, has long been at the heart of the matter. The images and the stories of shipwrecks at sea or landings in Lampedusa or on the beaches of Sicily and Calabria demand attention: 155 thousand people arrived on our shores in 2015. Nearly 6 million foreigners live and have taken root in Italy for some time .
All of these people have a journey that brought them here from their lands; everyone has had to deal with a language and a culture that is distant from their society of origin. It was an encounter, sometimes traumatic, sometimes fruitful, always difficult.
This video was made using the software Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects.
