Inspired by bio-engineering and the Grotesque art movement. A series of strange and wonderful characters parade to their own drum beat, each outdoing the other.
Designed for the unique 360° floor-to-ceiling ‘screen’ comprised of 5600 silicon rods suspended from an 18m diameter ring, the piece is simultaneously a projected film and audience interactive experience.
An original soundtrack by long-time collaborator Simon Pyke mixes the eclectic-exotic combination of instruments that can be found in various carnivals of the world – giving each character a unique sound.
This work continues the studios exploration into new forms of moving image combined with emerging display technologies.
