Singer and songwriter Gordon Voidwell has taken elements of New Wave, Hip-Hop, R & B, and Funk and has reintroduced the music to a new generation of fans. His “The Voided Checks Mixtape” has generated a lot of buzz online and Gordon’s single “Ivy League Circus” is a rave with fans at his live shows. Although Voidwell is original in the sense that his music says and speaks volumes of race, class, and love; he’s one of the most down to earth and sincere guys you ever want to meet. He’s passionate about the love and history of past musical styles and his vision for innovative music carries on in the tradition of Blondie, Talking Heads, Cameo, The Time, and Thomas Dolby.
Born William Gordon Johnson in the Bronx,New York, Gordon transformed into his new alter-ego while attending NYU where he met his bandmate and mentor, drummer Guillermo Brown. Brown, in addition to helping Gordon achieve his vision musically, has also help enhanced his career by putting together his band and eventually opening for soul singer Mayer Hawthorne on his last tour.
Gordon also raised money to record his new upcoming CD which is tentatively supposed to released in the summer of 2011. For upcoming tour dates or to order “The Voided Checks Mixtape” visit him online at myspace.com/gordonvoidwell.
