The Kingsburg City Band, under the baton of Music Director Dale Engstrom, closes the 2016 "Summer Band Concerts Under the Stars" series with a program filled with audience favorites. Guest soloist, drummer Joe Lizama, drives the band on jazz classics such as "St. Thomas" and "Salute to American Jazz." The group displays its versatility on titles ranging from the stately "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" to the infectious "Fiddle Faddle" by Leroy Anderson. New pieces showcasing contemporary artists include "A Tribute to Marvin Hamlish" and a medley from America's Band with "The Beach Boys Greatest Hits." The program and the season close with the all-time favorite, the "1812 Overture" by P.I. Tchaikovsky complete with John Wilson's cannons and the Concordia Lutheran Church bell and the curtain falls with the perennial closer, Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever."
