When the earthquake in Haiti struck in early 2010, mGive and the American Red Cross sprang into action. mGive powered the mobile donation technology behind the “text HAITI to 90999″ and “50555″ campaigns, which enabled anyone with a cell phone to quickly and effortlessly raise funds for the Haitian relief efforts. To date, over $37 million has been raised for the American Red Cross to aid the Haitian people, and mobile pledges now total about 25 percent of all Red Cross donations for Haiti.
MediaBelle produced the television and radio PSA’s to raise awareness about mobile text donations for Haiti. Issac Slade of the band The Fray was extremely kind to donate his time delivering the message on camera. Due to the nature of the circumstances and the deadline we had for the national television broadcast, this was an extremely quick turnaround shoot. We booked the studio, hired the crew and wrote everything the night before the shoot, as we had a limited time frame to get things done. The television spots were edited, graphics completed and audio mixed in time to be received by the national networks to air during the 2010 Grammy’s and BET’s S.O.S charity marathon. The radio spot played nationally as a PSA for many weeks after.
