"Hi. This is Steve Eulberg for Habits for a Healthy Music Habitat.
One of the things I like to do is stretch my musical experience because it enrichs everything I'm doing.
And so one of the ways I do that is work on skills, like: Sight Reading!
So here is The Real Book. These are jazz standards that are in the keys they were written in, and I'm going to do a little sight-reading.
This is a tune by Seymour Simons and Gerald Marts called, "All of Me."
I'm just going to look at the melody to begin with....
So I tried the melody. And then I tried the chords...
So I gave my brain a whole lot of challenges that made me move into a direction of where I don't normally play, in the 1-3-5 tuning (the F-A-C tuning) but I played it on my electric dulcimer, I'm playing with unusual music (Jazz) but it's the kind of thing that spices up what I'm working on.
So I encourage you to try that. Give it a shot!"
