During the 2015/16 school year HATCH conducted an ongoing Storytelling workshop and lecture series. Topics covered included finding your voice, screen writing, poetry, long form goal setting, and social media footprint.
The Story-teller’s workshop was led by HATCHer Elke Govertsen (Founder and Publisher of Mamalode Magazine, America's #1 parenting magazine), and several mentors from the HATCH network were lined up to Skype in including Stephanie Kent (Founder of Call Me Ishmael), Gillian Kessler (educator and poet), and JV Hart (Screenwriter Contact, Hook). It was inspiring to see how the students transformed and blossomed with their stories. Two of the students were published as a result. On one of the Skype sessions, writer JV Hart (Screenwriter Contact, Hook) told the kids "Your imagination is the best movie you will ever see. Your ideas are important."
Four of the students were published digitally and one, Cora Ide, in print. The HATCH Storyteller's workshop was piloted in Big Sky, Montana in 2016, and was generously supported by Security Title (sectitle.com).
