** May 9th 2017: Wow. I just got an email with the subject, Winner. We just got RIO's Choice Grand Prize Award. Soooo cool. Which means I get to go to Idaho in August and fish with the RIO crew, so cool! On top of that, this means Tenkara Kid will make it into the International Fly Fishing Film Festival! Thanks again to all the people that helped me make, edit, promote, vote, share, and watch this short film.
** April 27th 2017: We made it into RIO's Grand Finale contest. If you enjoyed it before, or this is your first time please consider give it it a vote. You can vote for this over here: woobox.com/zxhz9e/gallery/IYYVJT4zsKE
**NOTICE: Wow! Thank you everyone. We won 1st place for December's contest. As a thank you too all your support I asked RIO if they would be willing to donate two fly lines to two organizations and since they are an awesome company, they said yes! So I'm sending one to Project Healing Water's and a local youth fly fishing club. We'll be back in April to do this all over again for the grand final.
For many of us, we work hard all year and then only get to spend our two weeks of vacation on fly fishing. We fly hundreds of miles to rivers that measure fish-per-mile in the thousands and have elusive new species to catch. We spend thousands of dollars on gear to maximize our precious time on the water. This film hearkens back to the time in our youth when our fishing gear was easily carried in one hand, when we measured our trips in steps, where each fish mattered and every species was relished.
