Wake reflects the isolation created by technology. Wake invites you to put down your guard and explore the unfamiliar. To reconnect and rebuild our relationships with the people and elements around us.
Katherine Macnaughton, Director and Co-Founder of Bis Films, and Ashley Werhun, Choreographer and Dancer with Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, along with accomplished producer Emmanuel Hessler, team up to create this evocative short film. Bridging the worlds of Dance and Film in their first collaboration, Katherine and Ashley seek to move their audience with a powerful universal message delivered through stunning imagery and thoughtful choreography.
Dancers Mark Caserta, Gemma Freitas, Jeremy Coachman and Kiera Hill, lend their incredible talent to the piece and intuitive cinematographer, Derek Branscombe, brings his unique touch to Wake by combining flowing movement and intimate framing with poise and deft. Montreal modern minimalist designer, Pedram Karimi, styles the dancers and De La Romance crafts a stirring acoustic track that echoes the dreamlike setting. Finally, the fashionable footwear is graciously provided by ALDO.
Hot off the press, Wake is being submitted to film festivals and blogs.
