James McGinnis

James McGinnis is a 2016 GOAL Award recipient. James collapsed on a high school football field on Sept. 12, 2014, playing the game he loves. His helmet collided with an opponent’s hip, causing a life-threatening acute subdural hematoma. James started from square one, tackling basic skills like swallowing, speaking and standing. Within eight months, the tough young athlete was walking. James continues to heal in local outpatient therapy while attending college where he’s studying to be a physical therapist. He is an inspiration for others recovering from traumatic brain injury.
