Psyche and Eros refers to a Greek myth that narrates the relationship of two symbolic figures: Eros, the complete abandonment of all in order to indulge in CARNAL love. Psyche, represents the emergence of ‘doubt’; the doubt that drives us to think and make choices. This age old myth inspired Maiorino to investigate and explore these oppositions. After having researched the symbolism of this myth, contrary relations and concepts were re-considered and an attempt was made to re-define them and their structures: Female & Male; Conscious & Unconscious; Rational &Irrational. A strongly dualistic use of language is examined within the context of our modern and post-modern age.
